NAME: Chizuru Yukimura
CANON: Hakuouki
CANON REFERENCE: Wikipedia Article
AGE: 16 (going on 17...)
GENDER: Female
YEAR IN SCHOOL/FACULTY POSITION: Entering 11th grade

APPEARANCE: Her appearance in the lower right corner of this image...she's the only girl in the pic, though yes, I understand the boys are very very pretty.
PERSONALITY: Chizuru is in many ways your average, soft spoken Japanese teenager. Raised the only daughter of her doctor father, she has aspired from an early age to follow in her father's footsteps to become a doctor...or at least, that was the plan before her powers awakened. Chizuru grew up in a motherless family, and took on the entirety of household duties starting at a very young age. Her father was always very gentle with her, and therefore she has always found delight in completing a job well-done. As such, she tends to come across as a tight-laced, stick-in-the-mud goody two-shoes...and many of her American peers might regard her as boring.

Having spent her entire young life taking care of her father, Chizuru has always been prone to dote on people. She is used to being around people (or person, really) who worry more about others' well-being than their own, so she sees no problem with taking liberties when it comes to someone's personal well-being and private affairs. This can easily become a point of friction for more secretive and rebellious students, whereas Chizuru sees herself as being useful and helpful, it can easily be mistaken for being meddlesome and intrusive. Her time with her father, helping with his medical practice and observing the fragile nature of life invoked a deep respect for the sanctity of all forms of life. She is something of a pacifist and mourns those who are suffering.

When her powers began to manifest, Chizuru devolved from a cheerful, optimistic little girl to a quiet, reclusive teenager. Chizuru regards her "gift" with fear and apprehension, and as such avoids any means of physical confrontation so no one has to bear witness to her freak-of-nature secret. Due to that fact, Chizuru is habitually insecure and even a bit cowardly at first. Her frequent second-guessing and moments of insecurity will cause her to be something of a liability starting out.

Once she grows more comfortable with her settings, some of her lesser-known, more positive attributes may begin to surface again. She is extremely loyal, to the point of being obstinate and stubborn. She is modest, willing to do the less glamorous of chores such as cooking and cleaning and other mundane tasks. She is obedient and rarely (though not never!) questions authority. She is pure-hearted and nurturing, willing to offer support to even the most abrasive of individuals. One of her best qualities is her ability to keep secrets. Just as she kept her healing capabilities a secret for her entire life, she keeps the secrets those who learn to trust her.

In spite of her unusual circumstance, Chizuru is an entirely average girl. She has a habit of mixing up what things she should mull over, and what things she should stop over-thinking and simply act upon. She often finds herself getting up in her head, dwelling on the doubts that so readily plague her at every turn. She has both moments of foolish recklessness and crippling insecurity. When push comes to shove, however, she is often a wild card, serving as a distraction to adversaries and turning the tables so her allies can gain the upper hand. For that reason alone, she is often seen as a good luck charm to those around her, and true to her namesake, which literally means "thousand cranes."

Though slow to learn, Chizuru eventually tries her best to stay out of their way when duty calls, and frequently volunteers herself to carry out the less glorious errands, such as running across town to deliver messages inconspicuously. She is free of judgement, willing to put up with eccentricities and shenanigans. While initially withdrawn, once Chizuru is shown a little bit of warmth, she easily opens up and is often approachable.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
*Wound Transferal
By touching her target, Chizuru can absorb the wounds of a victim and transfer them to herself. They are transferred exactly - a stab to a vital organ may incapacitate her if her regenerative healing does not kick in quickly enough.
*Regenerative Healing
While Chizuru cannot regenerate limbs (yet), most wounds heal quickly for her. Superficial wounds are instantaneous, whereas more severe injuries will take her down. She does feel pain, however, so big enough injuries are more than capable of stopping her.

AU HISTORY:
Chizuru was born in Tokyo and, like many Tokyo-ites, has lived there her entire life. Her mother died giving birth, and she was raised with her father, a prominent doctor at St. Luke's International Hospital. She was enrolled in an expensive private school in Minato-ku starting in pre-school, and was quick to make friends and excel in various school activities. She made average grades, but enjoyed a large number of extra-curriculars, such as baking club, gardening club, and swimming club. Her father was often working late and relied on her to keep up their home, so Chizuru spent most of her nights either alone at home, or cramming at juku schools.

The first signs of being different weren't enough for Chizuru to speak up about anything, and honestly, for the sake of her father's career, she didn't even let him in on what happened one night when she'd cut her finger while chopping vegetables for their bento the next morning. He wasn't home, so, save for a mess she had to clean up, he was none the wiser that the knives that could cut even the finest sheets of vegetables had no lasting effect on his daughter's flesh and skin.

Chizuru was content in keeping silent about her secret forever, until one fateful day in junior high during her school's sports festival. During the final relay, a classmate took a nasty spill, twisting her knee. True to form, Chizuru stopped and helped to carry the girl towards the finish line. At first, Chizuru thought that along the way, she too twisted her knee, but unwilling to drop the girl and cause further injury, Chizuru persevered. Her knee healed before reaching the finish line, and it wasn't until she let go of her classmate that she discovered the truth: all of the girl's injuries were gone, sight unseen. Chizuru would have thought nothing of it...except that the girl's face was scuffed and was bleeding...and the drying blood the girl had on her face was mirrored on Chizuru's.

Dr. Yukimura was pulled from work, receiving a phone call from Chizuru's school informing him of the incident. Though it was a painful separation for them both, he knew that Chizuru would be best served in a school of others like her--and she was sent to the Xavier Institute in New York, the United States.

SAMPLE
1ST PERSON SAMPLE:
[The framing of Chizuru via her communicator is a little tight, a little wobbly at first, but she finally gets it propped up straight.] Yo~shi...! [She mutters under her breath before stepping back, her face bright with smiles and dressed in her old school uniform from back home.]

Hello everyone! I'm Yukimura Chizuru, and I'm a new transfer! [She sweeps down in an enthusiastic bow. Things were off to a better start than she'd expected...she didn't think there'd be other Japanese students here, which helped a great deal in settling in. Maybe she could be herself, here...]

I hail from Tokyo, Japan...I think a there a few other Japanese here, but...I have to admit, [She reaches to the back of her head sheepishly.] I'm not exactly familiar with how American schools are different from Japanese schools...so...are there any clubs for after school activities? Like a gardening club or a baking club?

[No one had asked her to join anything...she hopes it isn't because no one wanted her...]
I'd like to find some things to do after classes...I'm willing to start something up, if there are other people interested. I just would like to know what's out there, first?

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:

It was difficult to make a good impression on your first day of school when you had only yourself to rely on to get things right. It was funny how, even though Chizuru now more or less lived on her new school's campus, without concerning herself with catching the right train and not missing the latest bus...she would run late now of all times...!

Maybe she could still...blame it on jet lag? Or the fact that she didn't wear a uniform, so she had to figure out what to wear?! That would drive any girl crazy with worry!! (Wouldn't it?)

"Excuse me!!" Her breathless voice announced her presence before she raced through the hallway. It was eerily like all those shoujo manga she used to read as a child, minus the piece of toast in her mouth. ...she was too nervous to eat breakfast.

Hopefully that wouldn't come back to bite her, later.

She just barely made the corner as she turned her heel and turned. Did they lock the doors once the bell rang?! Would the teacher make her introduce herself to the class?! Would they make her stand in the hall?! Sob! She's never had to stand in the hall before...!!

"Please! Please, wait! Hold the door..!!" She saw a student walking in, hand on the doorknob and ready to pull it shut behind him. "I'm supposed to be in this class..!" Her arm shot out into the empty hallspace with an outstretched hand, desperate to make it across her fabricated finish line...!

Her shoes made a high pitched 'SQUEAAAK!' as she skid into the classroom, her entire body throwing itself over an occupied desk to break her momentum. She panted heavily, catching her breath as she caught herself on the desktop, only able to utter one quiet, whispered word. "...safe..."
